About Gwendy The Digger Enterprises

Gwendy The Digger Enterprises initially began in 2011 with the intent on connecting small business owners to their public, by combining interests.  Gradually it leaned more towards genealogical research.

Wendy has over 25 years of experience searching for documented evidence of ancestral roots.  Her research helped family members leap across the ocean three different times in 2015.  In doing so she turned over several ancestral family beliefs.  Due to this research there are two surname projects underway, the Frayne Surname project, and the Wangelin Surname Project.

In 2016 she assisted in locating eight adopted children's ancestors, combining her knowledge of research practices along with genetic genealogy.

Our Heritage

Wendy's ancestral roots stem from 1066 with William the Conqueror's conquest of England.  Further research has proven historical ties to Bordeaux, France; Mecklenburg, Germany; Wexford, Ireland; Wales; and many more locations.

While her maternal side has been previously researched, she finds time to investigate both sides of her family while assisting other family historians in their hunt for lost ancestors.

Our Staff

Wendy S. Hockenberry was introduced to family history in 1986 upon a visit to her Aunt in N. Augusta, South Carolina. John Bunyan's 1872 "Bunyan's  Complete Works lovingly wrapped in a towel and placed in the hands of her mother.  Here her Aunt told her, "We once owned a castle..."

What followed was a long series of events that stimulated her interest in the family story.

It is extremely fortunate that both her parents are avid genealogists, as were her maternal Grandmother and Aunt.
